Adair EDA wins second round grant for GRCP

Heather Spoon, EDA Consultant

I received an email December 15th from Kylee Palmer, Director of Program Administration at the Cabinet for Economic Development stating the following:
"Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that Site Selection Group (SSG), the third-party independent site selection consultant working with the Kentucky Association for Economic Development for the KPDI program, has recommended your project for due diligence by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development (Cabinet)."
This great news is in regard to the KPDI Round 2 grant application that was submitted in September 2023.

The EDA submitted a plan to construct a 15,000 sq. ft shell building on part of the new build-ready pad, a new entrance to the south side of the Park (at Todd Metals) and the move of the cemetery as a proposal for funding for the Green River Commerce Park.

It is likely that we will request a change to a portion of these funds to include a 40,000 sq. ft. build-ready pad for Lot 2 as opposed to the shell building.

We are also actively communicating with a company now that will make a decision on its location in mid-January. Their answer may determine the ultimate use of KPDI Round 2 dollars, as well. Regardless, it is such an exciting time to be a part of economic development in Adair County!

The recommendation for funding is another step in the right direction for our community as we look to prepare our strategically-located Green River Commerce Park for industry! Along with good-paying jobs for Adair County citizens will be the millions of dollars in capital investment made into Adair County.

We have had several site visits this year, and it's only a matter of time until we find the right fit for our community! The EDA has been complimented for our response time and positive attitude when it comes to bringing new opportunities to Columbia and greater Adair County. We must keep doing what we are doing!

I would like to say "Thank you" to so many in our community who have been genuinely supportive of our efforts this year!
