Barbara Jones, 77, Columbia, KY (1946-2023)

Barbara Kay (Chelf) Jones of Columbia peacefully passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at TJ Health Columbia Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was 77 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Hugh Withers officiating. Burial will follow in the Roley Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Tuesday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


Barbara was born September 8, 1946, in a log cabin in Knifley, KY. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Presley and Pauline Chelf, her sister, Marion Evelyn Chelf, and her husband J.L. Jones.

Barbara spent most of her adult life caring for others. If you were a friend of Barbara's, you were a friend for life. She was good-hearted, loved unconditionally and her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. Barbara was a faithful member of Knifley Christian Church and loved serving and helping others. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them whenever she could.

Survivors include her two sons, David Jones (Becky) of Columbia, KY, and Todd Jones (Christina) of Dixon, KY; grandchildren JT Jones (Carrie), Clayton Jones (Fiance, Emily), Jaylyn Bailey (Cara), and Jamian Bailey (Miranda); great grandchildren, Rose Michelle Jones, Julia Belle Jones, Reid Bailey, and Nolan Bailey; two sisters, Trudy Harden of Bowling Green, KY, and Maurita Herron (Van) of Knifley, KY; she also left behind several special children in her life, Cindy Keltner, Sherry Powell, Bobby Powell, Pat Burton, Doris Moore, Faye Townsend, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be J. T. Jones, Clayton Jones, Jaylyn Bailey, Jamian Bailey, Mason Burton, Talvan Herron, and Weldon Herron.
