Irene Knight, 97, Russell County, KY (1926-2023)

Irene Shearer Knight, 97, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023.

She was born in Jamestown, KY on December 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Bertie (Hadley) and Lawrence Blakey.


Irene is survived by

Four sons - Roger Shearer, of Jamestown, KY; Phillip Shearer (Joy), of Somerset. KY; Mitchell Shearer (Dean), of Jamestown, KY; Rufus Shearer, Jr. (Betty), of Russell Springs, KY,

Two stepdaughters, Pat Napier and Kim Stadler, of OH

A sister, Evelyn Phelps, of Columbia, KY.

She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren three step grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Rufus Shearer, husband Gilbert Knight, son Jerry Shearer, daughter Loretta Bertram, sisters Enola Wheat, Noma Holt, Exzona Bloyd, Nadine Loy, Nona Blakey, brothers Garvin Blakey and Wesly Blakey.

Funeral Service will be held at 1pmCT on Wednesday, December 13th at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Bobby Coe officiating. Friends may visit at 11.

Burial in the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KY.
