Geneva Bell, 90, Casey County, KY (1932-2023)

On December 6th, Geneva Joreen Helm Bell, loving mother, nanny, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 90 years old in Liberty, KY.

She was a wonderful mother and was best known as "Nanny" to those she loved the most. She was a well-loved member of her community at her lifetime church, Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, rocking on her porch, and watching her grandchildren play in the yard. She will always be remembered for her famous cooking at Crockett Trail, teaching Sunday School, working at the dime store, wrapping pork burgers at the Apple Festival, and watching her UK Wildcats play.

Geneva was born to Clyde & Emma Richards Helm on December 27, 1932. Geneva wed the love of her life, James Howard Bell on December 29th, 1948, at the age of sixteen.

She is survived by three sons, Garry (Debbie) Bell of Russell Springs, Larry Bell of Liberty, and Barry Bell of Liberty; grandchildren, Ashley, Fletcher, Jakie, Jerika, Ellie, Sarah, Shelby, and Scherriden; and great grandchildren, Raegyn, Brantley, Natalie, Hunter, Greyson, Georgia, Briar, Timberlynn, Roland, Emmett, Madeleine, and expecting Rowan. Other survivors include brothers, Gerald Helm, Ronald Helm, Buel Helm, and Roger Helm, all of Liberty; sisters, Trellis Carmicle of Dunnville, KY, Faye Allen of Cincinnati, OH, and Margretha Jones of Morning View, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her spouse are one great grandchild, Matthew Rylan Lynn; three sisters, Phyllis Burke, Dollie Caudill, Juanita Vanoy; and two brothers, Donald Helm and Verl Helm.

The funeral service will be held at 11pmET on Monday, December 11, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Bell would love to see everyone that attends on Monday wear purple in her memory.

Pallbearers will be Chad Combs, Gerald Helm, Dale Sellers, Kevin Land, Beul Helm, and Ricky Richards.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Ronald and Shirley Helm, Roger Helm, Shari Land, Charles and Barbara Norfleet, Delois Richards, Mae Bell, and Shirley Land.
