Strong response for ARPA funding projects

From Tiffany Collins

The City of Columbia has had great success with the local business improvement program through funding received from the American Rescue Plan Act. Approximately fifteen applications were processed in 2022. Close to fifty have been submitted in 2023, and another twenty-five are to be discussed.

Due to the response and the amount of the funding that was allocated for the projects, the accepting of applications will be suspended immediately.

"We appreciate the response from the community and local businesses," stated Mayor Pamela Hoots. "We want to ensure that the funding is available for these businesses that have submitted applications."

If all of the funding is not utilized, applications will reopen for the amount available at a later date.
