Excitement of Christmas parade kicks off the season

Is there anything like the anticipation before the annual Christmas in Columbia big event? Saturday, December 2, 2003 was a foggy, wet time for this year's parade. That weather, however, did not stop folks from lining the streets early to watch.

And it didn't stop participants who braved the rain that continued to fall as everyone got into the line up, waited for all the details to be worked out, and finally began moving down Jamestown Street to the Public Square.

Columbia Police, Adair Sheriff, and KY State Police led the lineup of dignitaries to start the parade.

At Community Trust Bank, Grand Marshall Lance Burton was signaled to pause and have the ACHS ROTC fall in behind the police vehicles.

The ACHS Band was positioned at Nationwide Insurance and entered the parade behind the The Parade Grand Marshal and dignitaries

Lining the Veterans Memorial Bypass and falling in behind them were the lead Columbia Fire Truck with Santa and Mrs. Clause. Fire Trucks/EMS/Pyles Vehicles/J Edwards, Randy Curry, MCS Lawn Care, Preston Comer, Yards R Us, and the Lance Burton Tour bus were next in the lineup.

Floats decorated for judging were the last to move out of the Morgan Smith parking lot.
