Christmas in Columbia 2023 kicks off Friday and Saturday From Ellen Zornes Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce The Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce invites you to its annual 'Christmas in Columbia' this Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2, 2023. Remember: Thursday, November 30, 2023, is your last chance to enter our 'Shop Local' drawing for your chance to win a $50 gift card to your favorite Chamber retail store or restaurant. Just visit our local stores and put your name and phone number in the Thank You bag. Names will be drawn on Friday, December 1, just in time to shop and eat at the last 'To the Nines' late night shopping event of the year. Shops will be open until 9pmCT on Friday, some with 'Christmas in Columbia' specials. In addition, the City of Columbia's Flower Boxes will be ready for visitors to view and interact with some. In addition to 'To the Nines', 'Christmas to the Nines' will be taking place at 'Old Columbia', 306 Public Square, next to the Russell Building on Columbia's historic square, in conjunction with the Adair County Tourism and Convention Commission. There will be a hot cocoa bar and caroling performed by Adair County School's choirs, from 4pmCT to 7pmCT. The donation bucket for the Family Resource And Youth Services Center, 'Food For February,' will be there to accept any monetary donations to help feed our food insecure. On Saturday, December 2, Christmas in Columbia begins with several activities happening around town: Christmas at the City Barn will be held from 9amCT to 4pmCT at 138 Moore Street, Columbia, KY, with over 80 small business boutiques, food trucks, hanbd made items and more. 'Shop Local': our local retail stores will be open with lots of merchandise and specials for Christmas in Columbia. Open House at the the historic Trabue Russell House The historic Trabue Russell House, 201 Jamestown Street, will be decked out for Christmas with an open house from 11amCT to 3pmCT. They will feature colonial style decorations, Victorian style themes, and a 1950's vintage room, and light refreshments will be served. Christmas Around the World From 1pmCT to 4pmCT it's the Children's Carnival, 'Christmas Around the World', at the Lindsey Wilson College Holloway Health and Wellness Center. Santa and Mrs. Claus being there from 1:30pmCT to 3:30pmCT. All kinds of fun children's activities will be happening there all afternoon. Christmas Parade Then the Christmas Parade, 'A Magical Christmas', will begin at 6pmCT. The Grand Marshal will be native son and famed magician Lance Burton. This year's parade is shaping up to be even bigger than last year's, with lots and lots of magical lights. After the parade, you are invited to the steps of Columbia Baptist Church, Greensburg Street, for caroling with hot chocolate and cookies. Christmas in Columbia will be a lot of fun this year!
