Jerry Compton, 68, Columbia, KY (1955-2023)

Jerry Thomas Compton of Columbia died on Friday, November 3, 2023 at U.K. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. He was 68 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amCT on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jon Davis and Bro. Adam Shepard officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 4pmCT on Sunday.


He was born January 6, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Eddie and Betty Jo Loy Compton. Jerry was a member of Columbia Christian Church, most recently worked in Medical Billing and enjoyed being and cooking for his family and friends.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Cindy Goode Compton of Columbia
  • Three sons - Jerry Wayne Compton and Michael Wesley Compton both of Columbia and Matthew Thomas Compton (Jerrica) of Providence, Rhode Island
  • One daughter - Kelli Michelle Parson (Patrick) of Bowling Green
  • Two brothers - Tony Joe Compton (Pam) and Stephen Compton (Pam) all of Columbia
  • Six sisters - Nancy Burton (Jeff), Betty Sue Hancock (Charlie), Rhonda Cox (Garry), Marsha Napier (Jim), Tammy Sexton (Bill) and Kathy Greer (Keith) all of Columbia
  • Five grandchildren - Alesha Dicken (Josh), Wesley Compton (Brea), Callie Jo Compton, Will Parson, Krysten Parson
  • Six great-grandchildren
  • His mother-in-law - Lulabell Goode of Columbia
  • Sister-in-law - Sandy Abernathy (Tim) of Russell Springs
  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Activities and Fellowship Team at Columbia Christian Church, which can be left at the funeral home.
