Shirley Loy, 83, Adair County, KY (1940-2023)

Shirley Ann Booher Loy of Columbia, Kentucky, daughter of the late John Talbert Booher and Sarah Louise Miller Booher, was born on February 3, 1940 in the Glens Fork community of Adair County, Kentucky. She departed this life on October 10, 2023 at the Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville, Kentucky having attained the age 83 years, eight months and seven days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was of the Methodist faith, and attended the Glens Fork Church of the Good News.


Shirley was a former caretaker and had been employed by Macy's. She loved bird watching, gardening and crocheting. She dearly loved her dog, Heidi.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Elizabeth and Charles Jones and Lisa and John Sargent; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Frank Loy, and Eric and Beth Loy; ten grandchildren: Ambur Loy, Trevor Loy, Charity Loy, Mara Sargent, Matthew Loy, Charle Thomas Jones, Mac Loy, Jessica Loy, Emma Loy and Katie Loy; six great-grandchildren: Elijah, Distinee, Oliver, Chloe, Quentin and Cheyenne; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband: Joe Frank Loy; and one sister: Connie Ruth Booher Alkire.

The funeral services for Ms. Shirley Loy will be conducted at 11:30amCT on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Glens Fork Church of the Good News with burial to follow in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10:30 Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements by Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the Glens Fork Church of the Good News or the American Cancer Society, which can be made at the church or the funeral home.
