Roy Wayne Clemons, Sr., 82, Mt. Washington, KY (1941-2023) Roy Wayne Clemons, Sr., of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center, in Somerset. He was 82 years of age. Roy was born March 14, 1941, in Central City, son of the late Roy and Helena "Bonnie" Burden Clemons. He worked over 40 years as a train engineer before retiring. Roy was a faithful, traditional Roman Catholic. He had a great love of horses and spent a lot of time as a horse trainer. Roy was a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats fan all his life. Roy enjoyed traveling, RVing, golfing, baseball (Cincinnati Reds), and running. Roy and his loving wife Gladys enjoyed walking in the mornings. Roy also enjoyed riding around in the golf cart, playing Pegs and Jokers, Hand and Foot card game and eating out. He loved his life in Florida with his wife Gladys, especially the hot weather. He was known as the "Mayor" of the Keystone Heights RV resort where they resided, where he would sit outside and wave and greet everyone who came by. He loved his family and attending Sunday mass. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; his two sons, Roy Wayne (and Vickie) Clemons, Jr., of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and James Clemons, of Jacksonville, Florida; his daughter, Teresa (and Bill) Beard, of Russell Springs, Kentucky; his sisters, Maryann Wilkins, of Elkmont, Alabama, and Genon (and Keith) Putnam, of Greenville; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (and Jacob) McMullen, Samantha (and Nathan) Cheek, Ella Clemons and Mya Clemons; his great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Harper, Maddie, Peyton and Emma. Loving step-family: two daughters, Laura Mattingly (Ben Carnes) Karyn Rodemann; son Travis Kelley; grandkids, William Robinson (Haley); Garland Kelley ( Tessa); Blare Robinson; Alex Bailey(Tyler); Joshua Kelley, great grandkids, Carlie Marie Robinson; Alice Mendosa; Layleigh Robinson; Quincy Robinson; Gwendolyn Bailey; Emilia Bailey. Along with his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Patricia Clemons; and his first-born son, Gerald Clemons. Bernard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
