Benny Scott, 73, Casey County, KY (1950-2023)

Benny Omer Scott, 73, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 7, 1950 in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Ben and Dorothy Cox Scott. He grew up in a loving family as one of 14 children.

Benny met the love of his life, Linda, as children in church. They were married on July 11, 1969. Their 54 year marriage produced four children and four grandchildren.

Following in his father's footsteps, Benny was an oil, gas, and water well driller who owned Benny Scott Drilling Company. He also was a member of Triple S Drilling with his two brothers many years ago. He had an adventurous life and survived many things, including a helicopter crash, train crash, and numerous other events.


Benny was hard-working, generous, and devoted to his family. He was stubborn at times, but he also had a sense of humor and loved to joke around. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Benny is survived by his wife Linda (Hill) Scott and his four children: Deana (Ritchie) Livengood of Moreland, Dwayne Scott of Liberty, Deangelia (Craig) Keiffer of Lexington, and Dakota Scott of Liberty.

His memory lives on in his grandchildren Kyle Scott, Eric Livengood, Nick Scott, and the late Ryan Livengood, Ritchie Aaron (Victoria) Livengood. He is also survived by three great grandchildren , his twin brother Larry Scott and sisters Jewell Payton, Phyllis Lamb, Wanda (Bearl) King, Margaret Rodgers, Mary (Harlan) Shoopman, all of Liberty and Carol Lee of Versailles. He is preceded in death by his brothers Hubert Scott and David Scott; sisters Doris Brown, Ruby Cochran, Catherine Smith, and Sue Cochran; father-in-law and mother-in-law Reverend Leonard and Alma Hill.

Visitation will be held 6 to 9pmET on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 10amET Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Brush Creek Pentecostal Church. Funeral service is at 1pm at Brush Creek Pentecostal Church. Brother Scott Cochran and Sister Shelley Gullette officiating. Burial will be at the Whited Cemetery. Bartle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
