Carol Peasley, 72, Gradyville, KY (1951-2023)

Carol Joyce (Youngs) Peasley, 72, of Gradyville, KY passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with burial to follow in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday after 10amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


She was born in Cortland, NY on June 28, 1951, to the late Richard Youngs and Mary Joyce Allen Youngs of Gradyville, KY who survives. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Kenneth Wayne Peasley.

Mrs. Peasley was a member of the Columbia Seventh Day Adventist Church and highly active within the church. She was the elementary school teacher for the Forrest Ward Memorial School in Bennington Vermont, Columbia Seventh Day Adventist Church School in Columbia KY and Adventist Christian Academy in Manchester, KY. She was also the Music Education Teacher for the Columbia Seventh Day Adventist School and the Appalachian Christian Academy. She served as a former Adventist Community Service Disaster Response Coordinator for the Bluegrass Region. She was formerly active in the food pantry in Manchester, KY, student missionary in South Korea, she home schooled her children and was active in various activities and organizations throughout the community and her church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two children Shawn Peasley of Gradyville, KY and Heather May Peasley Taft (Jonathan) of Harrodsburg, KY; two sisters Diane Wallace of Gradyville, KY and Connie Youngs of Columbia, KY; a special friend and prayer partner Sue Erickson of Madison, TN and several other friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the either Agape Unlimited at P.O. Box 50994 Midland, TX 79710 or It Is Written at P.O. Box 6 Chattanooga, TN 37401.
