Rolling Store article reminded me of home By Linda Waggener Billy Joe Fudge's article about Grissom's Rolling Store in Adair County brought back memories of the one that served my grandparent's home on our gravel road between Sulphur Well and Center, KY in northern Metcalfe County. A Mr. Honeycutt was the driver of our truck that looked very much like the description of Mr. Grissom's store, from about the same time frame, I think, mid-1950s. I can picture Grandma Alice Bell Royce Marcum's basket of eggs I'd helped her collect from the hen house held in the crook of her arm. She had it and her purse ready to trade for some supplies from his store. We'd look up into the back of the store and he'd be able to hand down what we asked for from his inventory. We'd head back into the house as he drove on toward Center. I was so curious and had to check out every item, slowing her down. She called me Meddlesomejack.
