Janie Marr McCubbins, 64, Green County, KY (1959-2023)

Frances Jane "Janie" Marr McCubbins of the Summersville community of Green County, daughter of the late James and Sally Erma Underwood Marr, was born on April 9, 1959 in Larue County, Kentucky. She departed this life on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at her home having attained the age of 64 years, five months and eight days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Janie was a loving wife, mama and nana - not to just her own grandchildren, but to the numerous children she helped take care of over the years as well.


She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Tommy McCubbins, having united in marriage on November 9, 1974.

Other survivors include two daughters: Stephanie McCubbins and Chasity McCubbins Price; eight grandchildren: Taylor and Grace McCubbins, Tammy Cundiff, Thomas and Samantha Price, Laura McCubbins, Serenity Whitehead and Matthew Whitehall; six great-grandchildren: Case McCubbins, Oaklie McCubbins, Maddie Cundiff, Drew Cundiff, Lainey Price and Noelle Price, along with expecting the arrival of two great-grandsons; one sister: Charlotte Hefley; one brother-in-law: Pat Burd; plus a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one grandson: Zayden Leslie Whitehead; two sisters: Vickie Tucker and Linda Burd; and one niece: Veronica Lynne "Lynnie" MacDonald.

The funeral services will be conducted at 11amCT on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Bloyd-Perkins Cemetery. Bro. Taylor McCubbins, Bro. Gordon Berry and Bro. Terry Shirley officiating. Visitation is requested on Tuesday from 4-8pmCT and after 7 Wednesday until time of the service.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the Bloyd-Perkins Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
