G.B. Bardin, 81, retired farmer and carpenter of Bliss Community

The patriarch of a large family, he leaves 21 descendents.
Mr. Bardin was a member of the Methodist faith.

G.B. Bardin, 82, 715 G.B. Bardin Road, the Bliss Community, Columbia, KY, passed away suddenly at his home after a short illness, Saturday, December 17, 2005.

The funeral service will be Monday, December 19, 2005, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jim Goff officiating. Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery.


Mr. Bardin was of the Methodist faith and a retired carpenter and farmer.He was the son of the late John Golden and Mary Ann Smith Bardin of Adair County.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Montgomery Bardin, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Jackie Bardin, Phillip Bardin, and Steve Bardin, all of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Janice Downey, Greensburg, KY

  • One brother: Delphus Bardin, Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Goldie Bardin, Columbia, KY; and Emma Childress, Cave City, KY

  • One half-brother: Hershel Harmon, Columbia, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Tammy Jones, Bridgett Downey Lush, Chad Bardin, Mark Bardin, Barry Bardin, Brent Bardin, Chris Bryant, Jamie Bryant, Michelle Murrell, and Todd Bardin

  • And seven great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Bryant, on October 6, 2002, and by one brother, Lewis Bardin, and one half-brother, Mike Harmon.

The family requests visitation after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
December 20, 2005: Pallbearers were Barry Bardin, Brent Bardin, Mark Bardin, Todd Bardin, Chris Bryant, and Jamie Bryant. Honorary pallbearers: Kenneth Scott, David Claycomb, Richard Lee Walker, Herbert Graves, Johnny Jones, and Jimmie Downey.
