Limmy McGowan, 63, Russell County, KY (1960-2023) Limmy McGowan, of Jamestown, passed from this life Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his home. He was 63 years of age. Limmy was born March 4, 1960, in Jamestown, son of the late Tulsey and Audrey Pearl Tucker McGowan. He married Patsy Smith on September 10, 1982. Limmy was a man of God who loved his church family dearly. He was the current superintendent and a deacon of Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church. Limmy was a great son, husband, father and Pa. He was a man who loved children. Limmy was an avid fisherman and hunter of deer and turkey. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; their daughter and son-in-law, Latisha and Daniel Popplewell, of Jamestown; his brother and sister-in-law, Drew and Lila McGowan, of Jamestown; his sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Kevin White, of Ashland; two grandchildren, Brayden Popplewell and Kynlee Popplewell, of Jamestown; his mother-in-law, Reba Faye Smith, of Jamestown; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Along with his parents, Limmy is preceded in death by seven brothers; two sisters; and one grandson, Eason Thomas Popplewell. Funeral services are 1pmCT Friday, September 8, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Randy Brown and Bro. Charles Edwards officiating. Musical selections will be performed by Josh Carey. Interment will follow in Murray Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allen Trent, Tyler McGowan, Trey McGowan, Michael McGowan, Brian Brockman and Daniel Popplewell. Brayden Popplewell will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held after 9:30am Friday, at Bernard Funeral Home, until time for funeral services.
