LETTER: Jim Caywood wants more info on Magistrates

Just a question . . . ?

I'm FROM OFF as it's said . . . .only being here since 1999.

I would like to see more on an outline of the districts for magistrate in particular, in other words the area they are responsible for.

Who is a candidate presently. Who is the incumbent if any and how long have they been in office . . whether Democrat or Republican.

Also I would like to know what are the duties and responsibilities of a magistrate. I like many never paid a whole lot of attention to the office until this last year when the employment tax was almost levied.

thx

Thanks, Jim Caywood. It was high time someone asked these questions, and not just for incomers; many of we native Adair Countians don't know the answers to all your questions. But we should if we're going to even halfway do our civic duty.

The complete answer is beyond our ken, but we are now on the case. Probably, though, somebody who knows the answers will come to our aid soon. We'd prefer that you answer through "Submit a Story," so that we can organize the answers better.

Also, if you only have part of the answers, send them on. That should get the facts out sooner. Again, thanks, Mr. Caywood for bringing this to our attention.
