Shoot and donate deer to Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry Frankfort, KY - Hunters have one last chance to use a firearm to harvest deer and it isalso a great time to donate deer meat to hungry people. Late muzzleloader season fordeer continues through Sunday, December 18. As warm as it was during the fall, it isequally that cold now. The cold weather should spur deer movement. Also, hunters whodonate a deer to feed the hungry will find that they will not be charged for processingthe donated deer this year. This is a peak time for hunters to donate deer to the hungry. Many have their freezerfull of meat and hunt specifically to donate a deer. Last year, Kentucky Hunters for theHungry received donations of over 1,000 deer and provided over 200,000 servings ofvenison to the poor. Hunters themselves paid almost one-third of the processing fees. Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry negotiated new contracts with its processors this yearand it now pays $50 to the processors for each deer. Processors won't be asking formore money from the hunter. Hunters may still donate to Kentucky Hunters for the Hungryby paying part or all of the processing cost, but it won't be a requirement. You don't have to be a deer hunter to help the cause.
