Remembering Coomer's Restaurant

By Doug Beard

Eighty years ago, in July of 1943 and during the midst of WWII, Coomer's Restaurant opened its doors. After serving delicious food for forty-three years, the family sold the restaurant in 1986 shortly after Mrs. Murphy passed away. Many people seeing these photos will have fond memories and shared experiences of visiting this fixture on the Columbia town square.
