Terry Harris, 67, New York, NY (1955-2023)

Terrill "Terry" Wayne Harris of New York passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2023. He was 67 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

Local visitation for Terry will take place at 4pmCT on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

Visitation in New York will be held from 4pmET until 8pmET on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel at 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, New York.


Terry was born on September 2, 1955, to Carl Wayne and Shirley Mae Zeutzius Harris in Louisville, Kentucky. After Terry graduated from Adair County High School in Columbia, KY in 1973, he studied theater and dance at Western Kentucky University. After graduating in 1978, Terry moved to New York, where he made his home until his death.

Terry worked in theater and dance but later moved into hospitality services where he served many people through catering, serving, and hosting social events for businesses and client family gatherings. Terry was a true professional in his industry.

Terry was a true friend to many people and loved his family dearly. He was often considered the life of any party. Terry loved to travel, attend theater productions, especially Broadway shows. He also enjoyed creative photography and floral arrangement. He loved being with his many friends and touched many people with his acts of kindness and gift-giving.

Terry is survived by one brother, Michael Harris, and his wife Laura of Columbia, KY. Terry was special "Tito" to his nieces Alayna Bryant (Tyler) of Columbia, KY, Anna Cox (Ryan) of Bowling Green, KY, nephew Adam Harris of Columbia, KY, and great nieces, Ainsley Bryant and Delsie Bryant. Terry adored his nieces and nephew and took great care to spoil them at every opportunity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Wayne and Shirley Mae Harris.
