At that time, she became the nursing director of Summit Manor Nursing Home. She also worked for the health department and was a state nursing home auditor until after 40 years of nursing she retired. Jimmie Rose enjoyed her morning coffee and winters in Florida. She was an avid reader, loved the color pink, playing the piano, flowers, especially roses, the lake, camping, and her pets. Jimmie Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Elizabeth Elliott and her siblings Thomas Elliott, Christine Elliott Gibbs and Phyllis Elliott Trammel who meant everything to her.

Jimmie Rose was a devoted wife to her husband of 66 years, Jack Burns Garrett of Columbia. Loving mother to her children John Patrick Garrett and wife Jean, of Tompkinsville and Jacqueline Rose Garrett Burton and husband Steve, of Columbia.
