Dennis Graham Davis, 86, Campbellsville, KY (1936-2023)

Dennis Graham Davis of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Eural Brown Davis and Evelyn Maxine Ennis Davis, was born on Wednesday, September 9, 1936, in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 86 years, 10 months, and 29 days of age.

After graduation from Greensburg High School, Class of 1956, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving his beloved country some 22 years. After retiring, he attended and graduated from Campbellsville College (now University) Class of 1983. He was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 15 years. Dennis spent the final years of his life working on a detailed family genealogy and identifying, locating, and repairing historical grave markers around the area. He personally added over 400 names to the Purple Heart Hall of Honor, identifying those past service members who were awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous two wives: Sue Cox Turner, having united in marriage in August of 1964, and Susan Ewell Yancey, having united in marriage in May of 1972, both ending in divorce.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca and William Cassell of Campbellsville, and Jamie and Dan Hale of Greensburg; a son: Benjamin Davis of Florida; eight grandchildren: Megan McKinney, Cameron Dial, Logan Perkins, Evelyn Morgan, Logan Dial, Christian Bradford, Madison Dial Campbell, and Lindsey Bradford; eight-great-grandchildren: Allie, Madi, and Easton McKinney, Cash Stone, Aubrey, Landon, and Jaxson Dial, and Tinlee Garrett; a brother: Marshel Davis of Greensburg; a sister: Vonda Smith of Campbellsville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by a very dear friend: Billie Cox Russell in 2014.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund or the Ennis-Perkins Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Cameron Dial, Logan Dial, Dan Hale, Robert Wilson, William Cassell, Dustin McKinney
