Clifton Russell (Russ) McGaha, 62, Columbia, KY (1961-2023)

Clifton Russell "Russ" McGaha of Columbia passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with cremation to follow the services.

Russ will have his final Harley ride on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 1:30pmCT, from the funeral home to Bryant Cemetery, where his cremains will be buried with his parents.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Friday until the time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


He was born in Canton, OH on April 15, 1961, to the late Clifton Davis McGaha, Jr. and Clarice Burton McGaha.

Russ was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Russell County and a lifetime member of the Hill and Valley Saddle Club. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and horses, He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Stapleton McGaha of Columbia; six children Ashley Froedge (Frankie), Misty McGaha, Jackie Phillips Burton, Richie Bernard, and Nathan Curry all of Columbia, KY and Jaime Reece (Gary) of Westmoreland, TN; fifteen grandchildren including three that he raised as his own Whitley Phillips Sneed, Payton Phillips, Nathaniel McGaha Curry, Ethan Froedge, Molly Froedge, Tre' Hughes, Bryce Hughes, Coty Biggerstaff, Kenneth Biggerstaff, Ethan Bernard, Evan Bernard, Elliot Bernard, Eli Bernard, and Natalie Curry; four great grandchildren Addi Sneed, Barrett Sneed, Waylon Biggerstaff, and Oakley Biggerstaff; two sisters Sandra New (Tommy) and Jan Leischner (Tim Horstman) both of Columbia, KY and several nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Abby Curry.
