Colby Deener, 95, Taylor Co., KY (1927-2023)

Mr. Colby Velmer Deener of Taylor County died on August 1, 2023, in the same house in which he was born on October 19, 1927 of the union of the late John W. Deener and Willie Lear Sullivan Deener.

Mr. Deener was the youngest of his siblings: Lillian Deener (James) Richerson, Robert C. (Gladys) Deener, Annie Mae Deener (Turner) Wayne, Walter (Eva) Deener, Dorothy Deener (Wayne) Kessler, James W. (Jean) Deener, Ora Lee (Leslie) Morris, all of whom predeceased him.

Colby Deener married Gloria Mae Reynolds in 1949 and would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on August 6, 2023. They have four children, Larry C. (Martha) Deener, Deronda M. (Deener) David Eastridge, Jeffrey A. (Kimberly) Deener and Bradley N. (April) Deener, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Deener was a career farmer in the Saloma area, farming land originally purchased by his father in 1904. He served on dairy cooperative and farming support organization boards. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946-1947.
