Mission Week highlights growth at J.O.Y. Ministries

Lee Ann Jessee and Krystal Cundiff are interviewed in the video below about the incredible work happening at J.O.Y. Ministries, which has recently broken ground on a new headquarters and hosted 3 weeks of summer programs for kids, culminating in Mission Week and a huge Back to School Bash for families with school-aged children.

With the help of Kosair for Kids, J.O.Y. has hosted two week-long day camps for elementary and middle school aged children this summer, and 50-75 students and 25 workers headed out during Mission Week at the end of July for community service projects.

Mission Week started in 2012 with 19 kids and 4 adults, and has grown to over 75 children and 25 workers participating in service projects in the community, including painting and cleaning, volunteering at Adair Friends & Neighbors, cutting down trees, helping at the Feeding America warehouse, and providing hundreds of meals.

Krystal Cundiff says in the video that one of the biggest blessings has been watching the young participants grow in to leaders in the community, with past participants going on to mission work and more.

The Back to School Bash provided shoe vouchers, backpacks, socks and underwear, childrens' clothing and a meal for around 100 local children and their families.

Lee Ann Jessee says, "Shelter and food are the things that we really focus on," to help everyone meet their primary needs.
