Electric vehicle update: Fast charger open in Campbellsville

By Tom Waggener

A DC fast charging station for electric vehicles is now available at Don Franklin Chevrolet, 915 Meader St, Campbellsville, KY, with an EV Connect charging station in their back parking lot. It has two CCS chargers compatible with most non-Tesla EVs. (Teslas can use the charger if they have the required adapter.)

Charging does require the EV Connect app on a smart phone, and payment may be made via Google Pay, Paypal or credit card. Aside from downloading the app, hook up and charging was pretty seamless on a recent visit, and my max charge rate was 75kwh. A full top off would take 40 minutes to over an hour depending on vehicle and battery size, but a quick top up could see 40-80 miles of range in under 20 minutes depending on the vehicle.

This is a great addition for the southern Kentucky lakes region's charging infrastructure, as the next nearest fast charging location is in Bowling Green.

Level 2 charging (typically 15-40 mile an hour recharge rate) continues to grow throughout the state of Kentucky, with new level 2 stations at Don Franklin Ford Columbia, the Lebanon Farmers Market and most state parks. A map of available charging stations nationwide is easily accessible through PlugShare.
