Ralph Pierce, 84, Green County, KY (1938-2023)

Ralph Johnson Pierce of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Ira Pierce and Bettie Wood Judd Pierce, was born on Wednesday, December 28, 1938, in the Pierce Community of Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his home. He was 84 years, 6 months, and 22 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Trammell Creek Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. He was an established businessman of several fields of work in his adult life. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him, and will be remembered for his dry sense of humor.


He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lottie Ermine Bagby Pierce of Greensburg having united in marriage on June 24, 1960.

Other survivors include a daughter: Pamela Jo Pierce of Greensburg; a son and daughter-in-law: John Patrick Pierce and Elizabeth Pierce of Greensburg; two grandchildren: Patrick Russell Pierce and Declan James Pierce; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Lee and Betty Church of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters and brothers-in-law: Juver and Elmer Davis, Geneva McAllister (Kenneth Thompson & Floyd McAllister), Elsie and Authur Shirrell; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray and Ruthene Pierce and Lester and Elsie Pierce.

The funeral services will be conducted at 2pmCT Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pierce Community Cemetery. Bro. Stephen Pierce and Bro. Dannie Nelson officiating. Visitation is requested after 10 Sunday.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pierce Community Cemetery or the Trammell Creek Baptist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
