Health information shared at July Chamber meeting

Jeff Neagle, Communications Specialist for the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, was the guest speaker at the July Columbia Adair, Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Before sharing updates about the Health Department, he shared about having grow up in downtown Columbia when his grandfather Haley Neagle was Jailer, and remembered the good things the community did for an eight year old boy. He went to college and moved away for his career but says he still always feels very close to his home.

He brought health information showing Adair County statistics and labeled our priority health issues - chronic disease, obesity, and physical inactivity; substance abuse/drug overdoses; tobacco use/vaping; and teenage pregnancy. The LCDHD is working to help residents in the ten counties to improve in all these areas.

The August Chamber meeting will be held at Holmes Bend Marina Restaurant. They have added both indoor and outdoor seating and will provide lunch to the guests from their menu.

For more information or for questions about becoming a Chamber member call 270-384-6020 or email coladair@duo-county.com .
