Columbia pedestrian injured while attempting Jamestown ST crossing

A Columbia resident was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Jamestown Street last night, Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at around 5:45 p.m.A Columbia Police Department spokesman said that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Jamestown Street between Payless and IGA.

Kristie Fugate, Jackson, KY, was traveling north in a 1998 Buick on Jamestown Street and was attempting a left turn and struck Denise Caldwell, 25, of Columbia, KY, who was attempting to cross Jamestown Street.

Ms. Caldwell was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Ms. Caldwell was not using the crosswalk, according to Columbia Police Department Officer Kevin Atwood, who investigated the accident.
