Gary Kenton (Fuzzy) Stanton, 83, Columbia, KY (1939-2023) Gary Kenton "Fuzzy" Stanton of Columbia passed away on July 7, 2023, at his residence. He was 83 years old. Funeral services will be held at 10amCT on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Russell Springs, KY on December 12, 1939, to the late Hollan and Emma Mae Foley Stanton. Gary joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17, with his mother giving her permission and he served proudly from 1957 to 1961. Upon returning from serving his country he married and had three children. After the military he became a long-distance truck driver, then before retiring he worked for Stephens Pipe and Steel in Russell Springs, KY. He was not afraid of hard work and always willing to lend a helping hand. At his home he raised all kinds of chickens, ducks, and guineas, and some would call those his babies. He loved working with his hands, fixing vehicles or building things. The last thing he built was a building for his oldest son Ken. Survivors include his three children Glenna Stanton Hiatt (Jesse), Kenneth Stanton (Lisa), and Rollan Stanton (Kelly); his companion of 41 years Roberta Crouch; his sister Martha Foster; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Gary enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren which was his heart and soul.
