Ben Popplewell, 81, Russell County, KY (1942-2023)

Gervin (Ben) Popplewell, 81, of Russell Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 5th, at Fair Oaks Health Systems, Jamestown.

He was born in Russell Springs, KY on January 23, 1942, a son of the late Eva (Miller) and Ethard Popplewell. He was a retired automaker assembly worker at GM.


He is survived by

two daughters, Kathy Thomas, of Russell Springs, KY; Shonda Burton (Nathan), of Columbia, KY;

a son, Randy Popplewell (Destiny), of Russell Springs, KY;

two sisters, Aldene Kiefer, of Russell Springs, KY; Andell Hanlon, of Russell Springs, KY;

two brothers, Aubrey Popplewell, of Jamestown, KY; Hearl Popplewell, of Russell Springs, KY.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margie (Myers) Popplewell, son Garland Popplewell, daughter Stephanie Greene, sisters Redith Stinson, Nelphia Wilson, Inez York and Darlene Shell, brothers Gradith Popplewell and Garnett Popplewell.

Care and cremation were chosen. H.E. Pruitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
