Incumbent Magistrate Tony Loy filed for re-election today, Tuesday, December 6, 2005.

He was the only candidate to file so far this week in the office of Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton.

At present, Magistrate Loy is the only Democrat running for the office.

Democrat Greg Willis, who is now Vice Chairman of the Adair County School Board, has said that he will seek the District 3 Magistrate Post. He has said that he is studying running as an Independent. This would mean that he would not have to run the primary, would not have to file before January 31, 2006, and could be on the ballot as an independent by filing an statement of candidacy in early April and formally file in August, 2006.

There are two Republicans seeking the to be Magistrate in District 3.

They are William "Buck" Campbell and Bill Spicer.
