Tom Chaney's life to be celebrated July 2, 2023 By Robert Stone There will be a Celebration of Life for Tom Chaney Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the Thomas House in Horse Cave (111 East Main Street, a short distance east of Highway 31W, the Dixie Highway) from 1pm to 5pmCT with a program at 2pmCT. Ed Waggener published all of Tom's columns Of Writers and Their Books and then republished most of them after Tom quit writing them. The earliest one I can find on this website is from 17 February 2006 "Carl Hiaasen strikes again: A review of Skinny Dip." This was a Friday and I believe all the others appeared on Sundays. Ed was also putting up columns by the Rev. Joey N. Welsh, a pseudonym for Rob Stout who had been the Methodist pastor at Horse Cave and an enthusiastic supporter of Horse Cave Theater. I don't remember how I got involved but I edited almost all the columns sent to Ed and if the CM copy differs from the Hart County New Herald copy, the CM copy is the correct wording. I also began to send Chuck Hinman's It's Just Me and It's Just Me, Again. One day I sent Ed some of my poetry and he put it up on a webpage. Then on Sunday mornings he would send me an email and say, "Do you have a new poem," and I would stop and write one and send it off before I went to church. Once he had a poem on a webpage twenty minutes after I finished writing it. It was a lot of work but I am very happy to have assisted in getting these literary creations (Ed would have said, Masterpieces) to your readers. This story was posted on 2023-06-25 16:48:53
