Betty Gay Buchanan Lowe, 95, Green County, KY Betty Gay Buchanan Lowe of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Fred Buchanan and Evelyn Cheuvront Buchanan, was born on Tuesday, June 12, 1928 in Campbellsville, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in Campbellsville. She was 95 years and six days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member and elder of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She attended Campbellsville College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and later received her Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University. She was a retired school teacher for the Green County Board of Education after 27 years of service. Mrs. Lowe was also a member of the Green County Homemakers, and the Rod Lowe Post #124 Auxiliary. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Russell Wilson Lowe on August 31, 2000 having united in marriage on December 22, 1947. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Bob Buchanan and Tom Buchanan. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Billy Joe and Becky Lowe of Greensburg; two daughters and sons-in-law: Beverly and Bill Hayes of Louisville, and Jan Lowe and Bruce Ponzo of North Carolina; a sister: Jane Roution of Campbellsville; a sister-in-law: Betty B. Lowe of Greensburg; seven grandchildren: April Parris, Jon Lowe, Quinn Lowe, Chris Lowe, JoAnne Beard, Colin Hayes, and Loren Hayes; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services will be conducted at 1pmCT Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Bro. Brenson Bishop officiating. Visitation is requested after 9 Saturday until time of the funeral service. The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Russell and Betty G. Lowe U.K. Agricultural Library Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
