JC Coomer, 80, Columbia, KY (1942-2023)

JC Coomer of Columbia died on June 14, 2023 at Landmark of Danville Nursing Home in Danville, KY. He was 80 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Bobby Withers and Bro. Gary Roy officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 9amCT on Friday.


JC was born July 21, 1942 in Adair County to the late Leslie Paul & Laura Ann Rowe Coomer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Coomer; his son, Jeffery Chad Coomer; one brother, James Leslie Coomer; and sisters Lena Bryant, Lula Purvis, Irene Warner, LouAnnie Estes, Jean Grant, Victoria Coomer and Haddie Marie Montfort. JC was a retired farmer, former employee of the Adair County Schools System, member of the Adair County Rescue Squad and attended Living By Faith Community Church in Columbia.

Survivors include:
  • Four daughters - Bridgette (Jerry) Lester of Danville, Kim (Jeff) Hadley of Columbia, Brandi Page, and Tami Geralds.
  • Bonus son - James Murphy
  • Bonus daughter - Janice Murphy
  • Eleven Grandchildren - Ashley Burns, Kristy Claywell, Beth Pike, Natasha Milby, Ethan Coomer, Layla Geralds, Cadence Geralds, Kaylynn Geralds, Chelsea Conover, Caitlin Zapata, and Sierra Harrison
  • Seven Great-Grandchildren - Luna Pike, Natalie Zapata, Noah Zapata, Parker Burns, Chloe Lanz, Chezlee Bardin, and Isaiah Harrison
  • Two Brothers - Russell (Beverly) Coomer of Louisville, Paul (Lillian) Coomer of Somerset
  • Two Sisters - Peggy (James) Freeman of Campbellsville, Mildred Coomer of Glasgow
  • Special Friends - Richard and Jean Speechley
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Living By Faith Community Church or Heritage Hospice of Danville
