Cyrus: Brief follow-up on the John Burr/LWJC article

Coach's last name "McCreary," not "McQueary." The Charlie Clift and Ed Agers eras.
A sharp-eyed reader quite correctly pointed out that "the once and future coach" of the Blue Raiders mentioned in John Burr article was John McCreary, not McQueary.

In McCreary's first year as coach of the Blue Raiders (the '41-42 season), the team won the conference championship

Coach McCreary enlisted in the Navy in '42, and Charlie Clift was named as the Blue Raider coach for '42-'43. Clift, however, had a short tenure, since the team was disbanded in late '42 or early '43.

McCreary, after three and half years in the armed service, returned to the helm of the Blue Raiders in the fall of '46, but tendered his resignation on January 1, 1947 to accept a position with the W.E. Stevens Manufacturing Company of Nashville, Tenn.

Ed Agers, a former Lindsey student and basketball player from the early '40s was immediately named as McCreary's replacement. At the time of McCreary's departure, the Raiders had a conference record of one loss & one win.
