Elsie Carter Cook, 93, Green County, KY (1930-2023) Elsie Carter Cook of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Finis and Hattie Chaney Babgy, was born on February 19, 1930 in Green County, Kentucky. She departed this life on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center having attained the age of 93 years, two months and 22 days. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Greensburg Baptist Church. Elsie was a former seamstress for Union Underwear in Campbellsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Carter and later united in marriage to V.L. Cook, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters: Bonnie Poland and Connie Johnson of Greensburg, and Frances Bell of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Johnny Bagby of Greensburg; plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son: Walter Ronnie Carter; eight brothers: Roy Bagby, Coy Bagby, Oris Toodlum Bagby, Joe Bagby, Mac Bagby, Linnie Bagby, Henry Wood Bagby and Lapsley Bagby; and one sister: Mary George. The funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Carter Cook will be conducted at 1pmCT on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Carter officiating. Visitation is requested after 11amCT on Monday until the time of the service. Expressions of sympathy requested to be made in the form of donations to the Bethlehem Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
