Boy Scouts go camping at Holmes Bend

From Xander Makranszky

I'm writing to inform you of the Boy Scouts most recent camping trip to Holmes Bend. The boys arrived Friday, April 28th, and set up their camping gear in the primitive section of the camp grounds. The next day, after we ate breakfast and readied ourselves, we rode off to the horse trails, walked down by the lake shore, and picked up trash for the next 2 hours. Afterwards, we piled all the trash bags together and took a few pictures before leaving to walk the mile back to the cars.

We drove over to the marina, washed up some, had lunch, and began the Citizenship in Society merit badge, in which we discussed the individuality of people and why it is important to treat everyone equally. After going around the table and giving various answers/examples to different prompts, most all scouts nearly completed the badge.

As a group, we had so much time on our hands we decided to stay for a while at the marina and participate in boy-lead group activities, such as playing tennis with our hands, and running around the recreational equipment playing tag. We left afterwards to the camp, where we had dinner (hotdogs over a fire) and went to bed.

In the morning we had muffins and worked on some Scout rank advancements. Then we picked up camp, cleaned the area looking around for extra trash, and left.
