Wendell Dean Neat, 78, Adair Co., KY native (1944-2023) Mr. Wendell Dean Neat of Louisville returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. He was 78 years old. A funeral service will be held at 1pmET on Monday, May 1, 2023, atSchoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home. 4895 N. Preston Hwy., Louisville, KY, with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday April 30, 2023, from 3pmET until 7pmET at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, and again on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 11amET until time of service. Wendell was born in Ella, Kentucky on November 8, 1944, to the late Aubrey Neat and Heloise Collins Neat. Wendell was a hard worker and worked for 35 years for General Electric. He was born and raised on a farm in Adair county where faith was a huge part of his and his family's life. He was baptized in Bryant's Creek right behind his home at a young age. He also loved to play baseball with his brothers and friends. Later in life after he had children of his own, he coached baseball and softball with his son and daughter and traveled and coached softball with various teams. After retiring he continued to work at the ballpark he loved (Okolona Little League) keeping the fields cut and groomed, it gave him great joy. Wendell was an amazing husband, son, dad, brother, and PA (what his grandchildren called him). He sacrificed a lot for his family, and he will be truly missed by them and all who knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Neat, daughter, Angela Brown (Chad), son Barry Neat, grandchildren, Zachary Neat, Aubrey Stopher, Addison Stopher, brothers, Randall Neat (Fannie), Kenneth Neat (Sheila), and sister, Bea Watson (Fred), and host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
