Animal shelter employees must go by county ordinance

By Tammy Crew, GRAS Director

Folks, please understand we, Green River Animal Shelter employees, do not have any control over the new Dog Ordinance - this ordinance was voted on by the Adair County Fiscal Court and this is what it states in the paperwork I received:

"An owner or keeper reclaiming an impounded animal shall pay a fee of $40 for the first redemption. Second impoundment will be double the amount the third impoundment will be triple the amount. The owner or keeper of the reclaimed animal shall pay in addition to the fees stated above an additional $5 per day for each day after the first 24 hours." This ordinance does not apply to Green County Residents as this is Adair County's Ordinance.

Green County residents will still pay $5 per day reclaim fee. Once again, the employees at the Green River Animal Shelter have NO control over this ordinance. If you have any questions, you may call the Adair County Fiscal Court Office at 270-384-4703, any of the nice ladies can answer your questions. Thank You. Tammy Crew, GRAS Director
