LWC swimmer to represent Venezuela on international stage

Lindsey Wilson men's swimmer Jose Angel Rivas will represent his country, Venezuela, on the international competition level, at V Juegos deportivos de Alba (V Alba Sport games) and I Campeonato Nacional Abierto (I Open National Championship), unfolding April 22-25 and May 3-6, respectively.

The freshman will compete in the 200-yard breaststroke in the first meet before swimming in four events, the 200-yard individual medley, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard breaststroke, and the 400-yard individual medley, during the second meet.

Rivas notched himself two individual and two relay NAIA All-American honors while adding on a solo All-Conference nod with a first-team accolade in the 800-yard freestyle relay. At the national tournament, Rivas smashed the school record in the 400-yard individual medley, cutting five seconds off the previous record, also topping the school record in the finals of the 200-yard individual medley for back-to-back record-breaking performances. He will be competing in both of those events for his country.
