EDA working to relocate Squires Cemetery from GRCP Columbia Adair County Economic Development Authority board member Kinzie Rowe is working with the state Registrar of Vital Statistics toward moving a small cemetery from the back of the Green River Commerce Park to another home. Located two and a half miles north of Columbia off Hwy 55N, the Squires Cemetery is now at the back side of the GRCP industrial park property. Studying recommendations of state economic development advisors, the board found that the 1800s era cemetery would pose no problem for many prospects, however, some cultures would refuse to consider locating a plant at a park with a cemetery on the property. They are working with Free Union Cemetery to find a permanent place for the graves and determine what will be required once permission has been worked out with the state and any remaining family members.
