Elnora Martin Pickett, 95, Greensburg, KY (1927-2023)

Elnora Martin Pickett of Greensburg departed this life on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Green Hill Rehab and Care Center. She was 95 years old.

The funeral services for Elnora Martin Pickett will be conducted at 11amCT on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Hodges Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Meryl Young and Bro. Garnett Wayne Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Community Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 9amCT on Wednesday at the Hodges Chapel United Methodist Church until time of the funeral service.


Elnora Martin Pickett, daughter of the late Frank Martin and Stella Parsons Martin, was born on Thursday, June 23, 1927 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Hodges Chapel United Methodist Church. She worked more than 20 years at Fruit of the Loom and was a Homemaker.

She was united in marriage on May 31, 1947 to Herbert Standford Pickett, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2012.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Nelson and Nancy Pickett of Greensburg and Harold Pickett and his fiance, Judy Sampsel of South Carolina; a daughter: Benita Pickett Penick of Greensburg; five grandchildren: Chris and Anna Pickett of Bardstown, Sarah and Reggie Roy of Russell Springs, Laura Pickett of Georgia, Heather Houk of Greensburg, and Jennifer Jeanne "J.J." Watts of Benton, Kentucky; five great-grandchildren: Lilly Kathryn Pickett, Foster Nelson Pickett, Murray Thomas Pickett all of Bardstown, Madelyn Kathryn Roy, and Ozzy Martin Roy both of Russell Springs; three sisters: Carolyn Blaydes of Campbellsville, Jean Clark, and Sylvia Kelly both of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Pickett was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild: Michael Christian Pickett; two brothers: Clifton Martin and Wayne Martin; two sisters: Mazetta Stephens and Crystal Blaydes; infant brother and sister: Betty Lou Martin and Bobby Martin.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take form of donation to the Maple Hill Community Cemetery Fund or Gideon Bible Fund.
