Softball: Lions rule over LWC in series finale At Marilyn D. Sparks Park, the visiting 14th-ranked Freed-Hardeman University got out in front early and did not look back en route to a 12-0, run-rule win over the Lindsey Wilson softball team over the weekend. After taking both outings on Saturday by a combined five runs, the Lions struck for an eight spot in the first inning and went on to limit the Blue Raiders to three hits and just one additional baserunner. Alexis Garayzar, Cheyenne Sandoval, and Brylee Pickerell each contributed one hit apiece for the locals, with Sandoval's going for extra bases to give the hosts a solid scoring opportunity in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Lindsey Wilson's only other true scoring chance came in the first frame when Za'Kiya Sizemore, who had earned a spot on a base from a walk, navigated her way around to the opposite corner behind a sacrifice bunt by Madyson Jones and Garayzar's single. Four different pitchers saw time inside the circle for the Blue Raiders on Sunday, including Olivia Franceschi and Grace Adams, who each dealt two complete innings and allowed one run on one hit, respectively. Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday to host Cumberland University in the penultimate conference series of the regular season. Game one is slated for 3 p.m., followed by games two and three on Saturday. This story was posted on 2023-04-17 08:40:24
