Lynn Badgley, 56, Russell Springs, KY (1966-2023)

Valera Lynn Badgley of Russell Springs passed away suddenly at her home on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. She was 56 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1pmCT on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Scott Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 10amCT on Wednesday until time for services.

Lynn was born June 13, 1966, in Somerset. On July 2, 1994, she married Gary Badgley in the yard of her home. Lynn was a hard worker at everything she put to task. She worked for years at Fruit of the Loom, in Jamestown, then worked alongside Gary, helping him with his carpet installation business. For the last several years, Lynn was an amazing chef and homemaker, and ran a tight ship. She was the household bookkeeper, knowing where to find everything. Lynn was the "number person" of the family, as well; she could tell you everyone's birthdays and license plate numbers.

Lynn loved God and lived her life to meet Him. She was such a caring person and would give the shirt off her back to those who may have been in need. She taught her children right from wrong and how to pray. Lynn was feisty, determined and stubborn, and was always the funniest person in the room. She loved being the center of attention. Lynn was a lady who knew how blessed she was. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; her daughters, Megan (and Henry) Messer and Katherine (and Zechary) Messer, both of Russell Springs; her "bonus" children, Troy (and Christy) Badgley, Gary, Jr. (and Angie) Badgley and Tracy Harmon, all of Shelbyville, Indiana; her brothers, Greg Weaver, of Russell Springs, and Harold (and Vern) Burton, of Cloverdale, Indiana; her mother-in-law, Marie Badgley, of Russell Springs; and her grandchildren, Henryetta Messer, Jaclynn Messer, Henry Messer, Jr., Sophia Messer, Wyatt Badgley, Darian Trumpey, Christopher Conover and Damon Badgley.

Preceding Lynn in death is her mother, Eleanor Rainwater Crockett; and her brother, Oliver Weaver.

Pallbearers will be Zechary Messer, Donovan Messer, Mickie Judd, Steven Harmon, Troy Badgley and Scotty Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital at stjude.org in memory of Lynn.

The arrangements for Valera Lynn Badgley are entrusted to Bernard Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.bernardfuneralhome.com.
