Jane Tucker Hume, 71, Columbia, KY (1951-2023) Jane Tucker Durham Hume of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Columbia, Kentucky, entered into her heavenly home on March 17, 2023, after an extensive battle with cancer. She was 71 years old. Cremation has been selected, with interment to be held at Haven Hill Cemetery at 1pmCT on Saturday, April 8, 2023. She was born August 6, 1951 to O.A. "Cotton" and Frances Durham, who preceded her in death. She was a teacher for 50 years in both Kentucky and Virginia, she loved watching children learn and grow. For several years she served as a representative with the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) and the National Education Association (NEA). She was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a member of Phi Mu fraternity. While living in Kentucky, she was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church, becoming a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church after relocating to Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Hunter & Joyce Durham. She is survived by one daughter, Amy Durham Kidd, and two grandchildren, Hayley Durham Kidd and Zachary Alden Kidd, all of Appomattox, Virginia. She is also survived by one niece, Stacey Wilson (Mark) and one nephew Robb Durham (Virginia), her dear friend, Sheila Roach, as well as a host of other family and friends.
