Iva Rose Burton, 86, Cambpellsville, KY (1936-2023)

Iva Rose Gilpin Wilkerson Burton of Campbellsville passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side. She was 86 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10amCT on Wednesday April 5, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Logan Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Casey County.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 4, 2023 from 4pmCT to 8pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


She was born in Casey County, KY to the late Walter E. and Nancy Jane Roy Gilpin.

Mrs. Burton was a member of the Saloma Baptist Church in Campbellsville, KY. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University with a degree in Early Childhood Development and was a retired social worker through the Lake Cumberland Community Service Program and The Headstart Program. She also attended Lindsey Wilson College. For many years, she owned and operated, Burton's Nursey in Campbellsville, KY with her husband, Leon Burton. She also volunteered at Taylor Regional Hospital as part of the Women's Auxiliary. Her hobbies included growing flowers and playing scrabble.

Survivors include her husband Leon Burton of Campbellsville; five children Rena McCloud of Lexington, KY, Ken Wilkerson (Lynda), Terry Wilkerson (Janet), Jeff Wilkerson, and Lyndon Wilkerson (Carol) all of Columbia, KY; seven grandchildren, Craig McCloud (Karen), Carson McCloud (Rebecca), Rob Wilkerson (Stephanie), Tara Mikchael Wilkerson, Tressie Roy (Ricky), Logan Wilkerson (BJ), and Shane Wilkerson; seventeen great grandchildren, Makayla McCloud, Madison McCloud, Zach Cooley, Maggie McCloud, Collyn McCloud, John Calum McCloud, James Warren McCloud, Thomas Hugh McCloud, Jordan Knifley, Dillon Wilkerson, Crystal Vertrees, D J Vertrees, Brayden Burton, Caydence Burton, Kassi Huddleston, Riley Roy, and Phillip Logan Wilkerson; three great-great grandchildren Bennett McGaha, Ava Alfaro, and Rhett McCloud.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Charles Willard Wilkerson; daughter-in-law, Julie Wilkerson; grandson, Sean Aaron Wilkerson; great grandson Jansen Reeves Wilkerson and ten siblings, her twin Ira Joe, Gerald P., Roy Randall, Ralph, Glenn, Chester B., and Thomas Lee Gilpin, Beryl Anderson, Iola Pearl Atwood, and Mary Faye Pendleton.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
