March 6 is Black Balloon Day in Columbia

From Tiffany Collins

Black Balloon Day has been proclaimed for March 6, 2023, in Columbia. The day is set aside every March 6 for families, friends, and loved ones to celebrate the lives of memories of those lost to overdose.

The black balloons are a symbol for the day and represent the lives lost. The day serves to raise awareness about drug dependencies, particularly the danger of opioids. It serves to lessen the stigma and further the conversation, allowing people to ask questions and seek help in recovery for themselves or a loved one.
