POLLS: School tax poll is neck-and-neck. Deer are getting clobbered

Links accompany this article
The school tax survey is no longer on the homepage, but it is still available. Right now, there's scarcely any spread in the votes. The poll has had a remarkable number of comments, most of which are courteous (and therefore effective), and give insight into how the tax will affect Adair Countians.

Interest in the issue is great and seems to be growing with each day. Valid points have been made on both sides of the issue. Your courteous comments are welcome.

The election which counts is now only one month30 daysaway. In the meantime, if you haven't already done so, why not take time to click to show the way you hope the election will go?

New poll asks your opinion on deer population in Adair County

A new survey questionaire is on the homepage of ColumbiaMagazine.com, which asks whether Adair County has too many deer. Currently, the deer are getting clobbered.

How do you feel about these beautiful animals? When they were first introduced, they were wonderful curiosities. For many, there is nothing more appealing than the sight of a herd of as many as a dozen deer, or the rare sighting of a spotted fawn.

But there are two sides. Deer take a heavy toll on travel. And gardens have suffered. New crops, such as grapes, don't get a chance because of the deer. Though there relatively few incidents of Lyme disease, the tiny dear tick carried by the animals is a source of the affliction.

Your vote and your comments on achieving a solutionor at least a balanceare welcome.
