Basketball: LWC Women prepare for final regular season slate

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team gears up to cap off the 2022-23 regular season against visiting Cumberlands (KY) at 5:30pmCT on Thursday for Senior Day, then for the closing game on the road versus Georgetown (KY) at NoonCT on Saturday. Live Video and Stats will be available for both games.

The Patriots (21-5, 15-5 MSC) enter after dismantling Tennessee Southern 74-41, last Saturday. Since facing the Blue Raiders on Dec. 10, Cumberlands has amassed a 12-2 record, only losing to fellow ranked teams in Pikeville (Ky.) and Thomas More (Ky.).

The relative duo of Kassie Monday and Kaylie Monday lead the offensive charge for the Patriots with 15.6 and 11.4 points per game, respectively. Kassie boasts the fifth-highest scoring average in the conference while leading the conference in assists per game with 5.6. Destiny Haworth possesses the conference's third-highest three-point percentage with a mark of 45.0, adding on 9.7 points per game.

The Tigers (15-11, 11-9 MSC) enter after beating Cumberland (Tenn.) 69-50, last Saturday. Georgetown once sat at No. 18 in the country, but due to recent play in the new year, they were dropped from the poll after going 5-6 in their last eleven games.

Georgetown holds three players that average over ten points per game in Izzy Lamparty, Madison Darnell, and Erin Toller with the latter of the three reaching the seventh highest mark in the conference at 15.6 per game. Senior Madison Darnell rebounds at a mark of 7.3 per game, the fourth-highest average in the conference.

The Blue Raiders (10-16, 4-16 MSC) enter after falling to visiting Shawnee State (Ohio) 48-70, on Saturday afternoon. Before tipoff of the Thursday match, Lindsey Wilson coaches and family members will honor seniors Maleigha Oldham and Olivia Perry.

Lindsey Wilson is led by the quartet of Alera Barbee, Amelia Hodges, Oldham, and Lucy Patterson. The latter of the four, Patterson, leads the Blue Raiders in scoring with 12.1 points per game while adding on 9.0 rebounds per contest, a mark that pins her at the second-highest in the conference. Oldham flanks her with over ten points per game at 10.9, recently passing Lyndsay Howard for tenth in career points in program history. Barbee has reached double-figures in her last four out of five contests, averaging 11 points during that span.

The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series against Cumberlands, 42-34, while Georgetown took the crown in the series against LWC with their matchup earlier in the season, leading 34-33.
